A quality application to burn CDs and DVDs.
Even before it appeared on the market,
Alcohol 120% had already gained some fame, and when it was finally launched in 2002 it became, ipso facto, of the most used
CD and DVD burning applications.
As well as its capacity to
burn virtually anything, it offered the possibility to
create up to 31 virtual units, with the idea that by only having a CD image (usually using the ISO format) on our hard drive and
Alcohol 120%, people could avoid having to burn the image on a physical disc. It was mounted in a virtual drive and that was it done. Offering no reading error possibilities and
quicker reading speed.
What's more,
Alcohol 120% stood out due to the fact that it integrated very well with Windows, because to create a virtual drive it was only necessary to access the applications menu from the icon in the system tray and click a couple of times. An
incredible easy process to mount a CD image and for a new unit to appear in My PC.
The applications interface is very similar to that of Windows XP, and once an option is launched, an assistant appears to make things easier.
Alcohol 120% is compatible with multiple image formats:
MDS/MDF (as default), CCD, IMG, SUB (used by CloneCD, another classic), CUE/BIN,
ISO, NRG (the format used by Nero), BWT, BWI, BWS, CDI, PDI, B5T/B5I, as well as offering the possibility to
copy a CD avoiding the anti-copy protection, that gave the application a lot of publicity when it came to making back-up copies of games.
Note: The
trial version has limited use.
